2: Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples	‹11ò2Ì ïO de; ÆIwavnnh" ajkouvsa" ejn tw'/ desmwthrivw/ ta; e[rga tou' Cristou' pevmya" dia; tw'n maqhtw'n aujtou'
3: and said to him, "Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?"	‹11ò3Ì ei\pen aujtw'/, Su; ei\ oJ ejrcovmeno" h] e{teron prosdokw'menÉ
4: And Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John what you hear and see:	‹11ò4Ì kai; ajpokriqei;" oJ ÆIhsou'" ei\pen aujtoi'", Poreuqevnte" ajpaggeivlate ÆIwavnnh/ a} ajkouvete kai; blevpete:
5: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.	‹11ò5Ì tufloi; ajnablevpousin kai; cwloi; peripatou'sin, leproi; kaqarivzontai kai; kwfoi; ajkouvousin, kai; nekroi; ejgeivrontai kai; ptwcoi; eujaggelivzontai:
6: And blessed is he who takes no offense at me."	‹11ò6Ì kai; makavriov" ejstin o}" eja;n mh; skandalisqh'/ ejn ejmoiv.
7: As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to behold? A reed shaken by the wind?	‹11ò7Ì Touvtwn de; poreuomevnwn h[rxato oJ ÆIhsou'" levgein toi'" o[cloi" peri; ÆIwavnnou, Tiv ejxhvlqate eij" th;n e[rhmon qeavsasqaiÉ kavlamon uJpo; ajnevmou saleuovmenonÉ
8: Why then did you go out? To see a man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, those who wear soft raiment are in kings' houses.	‹11ò8Ì ajlla; tiv ejxhvlqate ijdei'nÉ a[nqrwpon ejn malakoi'" hjmfiesmevnonÉ ijdou; oiJ ta; malaka; forou'nte" ejn toi'" oi[koi" tw'n basilevwn eijsivn.
9: Why then did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.	‹11ò9Ì ajlla; tiv ejxhvlqate ijdei'nÉ profhvthnÉ nai; levgw uJmi'n, kai; perissovteron profhvtou.
10: This is he of whom it is written, `Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.'	‹11ò10Ì ou\|tov" ejstin peri; ou\| gevgraptai, ÆIdou; ejgw; ajpostevllw to;n a[ggelovn mou pro; proswvpou sou, o}" kataskeuavsei th;n oJdovn sou e[mprosqevn sou.
11: Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.	‹11ò11Ì ajmh;n levgw uJmi'n: oujk ejghvgertai ejn gennhtoi'" gunaikw'n meivzwn ÆIwavnnou tou' baptistou': oJ de; mikrovtero" ejn th'/ basileiva/ tw'n oujranw'n meivzwn aujtou' ejstin.
12: From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and men of violence take it by force.	‹11ò12Ì ajpo; de; tw'n hJmerw'n ÆIwavnnou tou' baptistou' e{w" a[rti hJ basileiva tw'n oujranw'n biavzetai kai; biastai; aJrpavzousin aujthvn.
13: For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John;	‹11ò13Ì pavnte" ga;r oiJ profh'tai kai; oJ novmo" e{w" ÆIwavnnou ejprofhvteusan:
14: and if you are willing to accept it, he is Eli'jah who is to come.	‹11ò14Ì kai; eij qevlete devxasqai, aujtov" ejstin ÆHliva" oJ mevllwn e[rcesqai.
15: He who has ears to hear, let him hear.	‹11ò15Ì oJ e[cwn w\ta ajkouevtw.
