Our mission is to participate in Christ’s Great Commission by introducing Christ through the Orthodox Faith. We support orthodox mission efforts that work to spread the word of God throughout the world. Our members are made up of mainly parishioners of Saint Nicholas and St. Basil the Great in San Jose. We hope to expand and invite other local orthodox churches in the area to join this ministry.

Our ministry starts the calendar year with a Vasilopita Fellowship to benefit the SAMP Support A Mission Priest who is indigenous and is serving a mission supported by the OCMC. We are continuing to support Fr. Alexander Anassi in Nigeria and Fr. Luke Maina Mutahi in Kenya. Our goal is to add a third priest for 2014.

During the pre-sanctified liturgy series of speakers, we have a missionary that we have helped sponsor present their experience and witness of our faith on a short term mission. The proceeds benefit other short term missionaries to come. In 2013 we supported the Bundros Team to Alaska.

This year at the St. Nicholas food festival committee donated a spot where we setup a photo booth and face painting. We took the photo booth on the road to St. James in Milpitas. They invited us to be part of their food festival where all the proceeds were donated to support the works of Sr. Nectaria.

We end our calendar year with a kick off of the liturgical year with a community wide Walk for Missions that benefits the only Orthodox orphanage in India the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Girls Orphanage. We work with St. Basil and other sister orthodox churches in the area that are committed to keep the orphanage open and support their journey to self-sustainability. We do this since the philanthropists of Greece, who started the project, are no longer in a position to help.
