The Mission of Vacation Church School is to offer a week-long camp for school-aged children that provides a multi-sensory, in-depth learning experience in the areas of spiritual formation, worship, education, evangelism and philanthropy.

The St. Nicholas Vacation Church School was held June 10-14. The theme for the camp was Behold the Light, the second year of a three year program which covers the 12 major feast days of the church. There were 53 children, ages prek-8th grade that attended. They spent the week learning about the nativity (we See the light), the presentation (we Meet the light), the baptism (we Follow the light), and the transfiguration (we are Changed by the light) of our Lord, which was reinforced through songs, art, puppet shows, and games. They also spent time every day learning about the Orthodox orphanage in India. During the week, the children raised almost $500 for the orphanage and brought a large load of toys and clothes to donate to a local charity. By the end of the week the children were comfortable singing the responses at the two daily prayer services, could tell their parents about these four feast days of our church, could sing the baptism hymn and several other songs, and were more sensitive to the needs of the Orthodox people in other places. Glory to God!
